Have you ever been out shopping and couldn't remember the name of a nail polish color you were looking for? Couldn't remember if you already own a color you see? Maybe they don't have the color you want and you need an alternative?

This handy HTML5 app can be installed on any smartphone—including the iPhone and Android— and lets you easily keep track of the colors you like. It includes over 1500 nail polish names and colors organzied by brands such as OPI, China Glaze, and Essie. You can mark colors you own as well as colors you want to buy with with the tap of a finger. You can even find similar colors in case the store you're in doesn't have the exact color you're looking for!

UPDATE: Julep has been added by popular demand!

What nail polish colors are in the app?
Currently there are just over 1700 colors from Butter London, China Glaze, Essence, Essie, OPI, Sallie Hansen, Sinful Colors, and Zoya. Both Sinful Colors and Butter London were added based on people's request (see next question).
Can you add a new nail polish brand to the app?
I'm always interested in expanding the brands and colors in this application. Keep in mind that I'm just one person, and gathering all the info for a line of colors is time consuming. The more requests I get for a certain brand, the more likely it is to be added. You can reach me at with any requests, comments, or questions.
Why did you write this app?
It's just a hobby. I've been writing several tracking apps lately. A couple people requested an app like this one, and I couldn't find any out there, so I wrote it. It was a good chance for me to learn the jQuery Mobile framework.
Why isn't this in the Apple iStore?
An Apple developer's license costs [too much] money. I'm just this one guy, and am letting people use the app for free. I didn't really want to spend much money writing or time learning a new coding language.
What information are you collecting about me?
Information about your nail polish colors is kept locally on your phone/device. I use Google Analytics to track usage, but all that data is in aggregate. I know nothing about you personally.
Can I save my info so it doesn't get lost if I lose or break my phone?
Yes! This was a popular feature request. If you supply your email address and a password, you can store your nail polish info in the cloud and load it again later using that same email address and password. Please don't use the same password you do with other accounts; this storage is not as secure as it would be on a site where you can buy stuff. This is a completely optional feature—the app works fine without you using it. If you do use it, I will be able to tell what nail polish colors you have. Scary, I know.
Isn't it odd for a guy to write an app like this?
